Two-year-old female was driving around the neighborhood - to Zoo Opole Her transfer was planned by the coordinator of the European breeding program for the species and took place just two weeks after her sister Kara left for France - the garden Espace Zoologique de St-Martin-la-Plaine The names of both females are not accidental - they all refer to their natural habitat: Kara comes from Karakorum, a powerful mountain range in Central Asia, and Asha from Gaszerbrum - one of the groups of peaks lying in this range. This is a symbolic reminder that although these panthers were born at a zoo, their existence is deeply connected to the wildlife we seek to protect Although this is a difficult time for caregivers – and probably Asha herself – but from the broader perspective, we know the importance of this event. Being able to transfer another hiding place to another zoo is proof of the effectiveness of our operations and a great chance for Asha to reproduce and strengthen the population of her species in the future Zoological breeding programs for rare and endangered species, like the one in which Asha and Kara participate, are crucial to their survival. The program coordinator has full knowledge of all individuals living in zoos in the world. He decides where individual animals go - so that he can genetically choose them in pairs and create the conditions for them to produce healthy offspring.
